Short answer: Google Ads has no fixed price. You set a daily budget and pay each time someone clicks. Your real cost is: ad spend (clicks × cost per click) + management (your time, or a specialist's fee) + setup (tracking and a landing page). Cost per click varies hugely by keyword and country, from a few rupees to several thousand.
The 3 parts of the cost of running Google Ads
- Ad spend. Paid to Google. You control it with a daily budget; Google can spend up to 2× the daily budget on a busy day but won't exceed your monthly average.
- Management. Someone needs to check search terms, adjust bids and test ads. That's either your time or a fee to a specialist or agency.
- Setup. Conversion tracking and a landing page that matches your ads. Skipping these is the most expensive mistake, because you pay for clicks without knowing which ones work.
Real cost-per-click examples (from Google Keyword Planner)
These are Keyword Planner "top of page bid" ranges I pulled for my own campaigns in September–October 2026, for marketing-service keywords. They show how much the same type of search can cost in different countries:
| Keyword | Country | Top-of-page bid (low – high) |
|---|---|---|
| hire google ads expert | India | ₹41 – ₹248 |
| google adwords expert | India | ₹68 – ₹758 |
| google adwords consultant | India | ₹85 – ₹613 |
| google ads freelancer | United States | ₹960 – ₹3,369 |
| google ads specialist | United States | ₹1,378 – ₹8,408 |
| google adwords consultant | United States | ₹3,470 – ₹13,052 |
Estimates from Google Keyword Planner, shown in INR. Actual costs depend on competition, ad quality and timing, and change over time. Check your own keywords in Keyword Planner before setting a budget.
The lesson: in this data, the same type of search cost roughly 20–40× more per click in the US than in India. Your industry matters even more: legal, insurance and finance keywords are usually far more expensive than local retail.
How to work out your Google Ads budget
Work backwards from the number of leads you want:
- Leads wanted per month: for example, 20.
- Expected conversion rate: the share of visitors who enquire. Use your own data if you have it. As an example, take 5%.
- Clicks needed: 20 ÷ 0.05 = 400 clicks.
- Average cost per click from Keyword Planner: for example ₹150.
- Monthly ad spend: 400 × ₹150 = ₹60,000 (about ₹2,000 a day).
This is an illustration with example numbers, not a prediction. Your conversion rate and CPC will be different.
If the result is more than you can spend, don't spread a small budget thin. Target fewer, higher-intent keywords and the locations most likely to buy. A small budget on the right 10 keywords beats the same budget on 200.
Google Ads management fees
Management is usually charged in one of three ways: a percentage of ad spend, a flat monthly fee, or a hybrid of the two. A flat fee keeps the incentives clean: your manager isn't rewarded for spending more of your money. I charge a flat monthly fee, agreed after the free audit, based on the work your account needs.
7 ways to lower the cost of running Google Ads
- Add negative keywords for jobs, courses, "free" and "how to" searches if you sell a service.
- Use phrase and exact match while the account is new; broad match needs conversion data to work well.
- Track real leads as conversions, not page views.
- Send each ad group to a page that answers that exact search.
- Show ads only in the hours and locations your customers buy.
- Pause keywords that have spent 2× your target cost per lead without converting.
- Review the search terms report every week (daily for new accounts).

How I work
- Free 30-minute audit. We open your account together. I show you wasted spend, missing tracking and the 3 fixes I'd make first.
- Tracking first. Conversions, calls and form leads are tracked properly, so Google optimizes for real enquiries instead of clicks.
- Rebuild what's wasting money. Tighter keyword groups, negative keywords, clearer ads and a landing page that matches the search.
- Daily hands-on management. I check search terms, budgets and bids every working day, and test one change at a time.
- Monthly report in plain English. Leads, cost per lead and what I'm changing next. No vanity metrics.

Frequently asked questions
How much does it cost to run Google Ads per month?
You choose. There's no minimum spend, but for lead generation I recommend at least ₹30,000/month in India or $2,000/month in the US so there's enough data to improve results.
How much does Google charge per click?
It depends on the keyword, country and competition. In my own Keyword Planner data, Indian marketing-service keywords ranged from about ₹41 to ₹758 per click at the top of the page, while similar US keywords ranged from about ₹960 to over ₹13,000.
Can I run Google Ads with ₹100 a day?
You can, but for competitive keywords you may get very few or no clicks. Small budgets work best on a handful of high-intent, low-competition keywords in specific locations.
Is it cheaper to run Google Ads myself?
You save the management fee, but cost per lead is often higher without daily search-term checks and proper tracking. Many businesses start themselves, then bring in a specialist once spend grows.
Why is Google Ads so expensive in the US?
More advertisers compete for the same searches, and customer values are higher, so bids are higher. In my own Keyword Planner data, similar keywords cost roughly 20–40× more per click than in India.
